Giveaway, Finished Quilt and Thankful Thursday #12

Hi quilty friends! As you can tell there is a lot to post about today but a lot of it will be all rolled together. Soooo here we go......

First I want to say welcome to Thankful Thursday I have not been keeping up with Thankful Thursday very well and I am very sorry about that. But, in this day and age I think personal relationships are very important and that is why I don't spend a lot of time blogging. Now on to my Thankful Thursday.
My brother in law and sister in law have foster children in their care I think I have mentioned that on here before. These children are what I am thankful for this week. Hopefully (fingers crossed) soon I will have a new niece and two new nephews! (big grin) These children have brought so much love and fun and laughter into our family. I just can't even explain it. So I am really thankful that the Lord choose our family to be a part of their lives.

Now on to the quilt that I finished.
I have been making quilts for the above mentioned children and I am almost done. This is the third quilt I have made and I have one more to go. This quilt is for the older of the two boys.

This quilt is made out of scraps that I have bought and used from two previous Tee Shirt quilts that I made. I just did it in the style of a Jelly Roll race quilt with 2 1/2 inch strips.

Again I did the reverse binding method. This seems to work best for quilts I make for children or quilts that are going to be washed a lot.

Now for the BIG news!

You all know what a big Aurifil girl I am. I love aurifil thread but better yet my Sewing Machine likes aurifil! That is part of the reason I use aurifil so much.
Well I really wanted something to quilt this quilt with that would really stand out. At first I was thinking maybe a variegated thread but I still didn't think that would be enough of a pop for a little boy!
So I found another thread that I thought I might want to use. So I ordered it and crossed my fingers that my machine would like it and that it would all work out.

This is what I bought.

It is made buy Superior Threads and it is called NiteLite Extra Glow.

You can't see it really great here but Superior has some great ideas on how to use it. Here is one of their videos.

Here is a little bit better picture of the back. I put the thread in the bobbin.

Now to use this thread Superior recommends that you use their Topstitch 90/14 needle.
I did buy a pack of these needles. I am as picky about needles as I am about thread. I was very satisfied with these needles so much so that I bought another pack of the Topstitch 80/12. All of these needles are titanium coated. You can see a needle chart HERE

I have also started making pillowcases to go with each of the quilts that I give to children. It's an easy place to store the quilt when not in use and also gives them a new and unique pillowcase just for them.

Now I personally am not a Gator Football fan but this little boy is! And that is all that matters.

Now for the Giveaway part. Sense I have now made three quilts and one more quilt top with this bunch of fabric I feel it is time for it to move on. So I went to the post office and picked up two medium sized flat rate boxes to pack this up in.

But...... I also contacted Superior Threads and they gave me a deal on some of this thread and I will include some so you too can try the NiteLite thread and Titanium-Coated Topstitch 90/14 Needles

So for this Giveaway if you win you will get:
a box of fabric scraps
1 small spool NiteLite thread
3 Topstitch 90/14 needles

I know I said I have two and I do but I am still working on the second quilt and when I finish it I will host a second giveaway for the other set of fabric, thread, and needles. (so stay tuned)
