The KING

I'm still working on the King size quilt for my bed. I'm linking up with Lee over at Freshly Pieced for WIP that's Work In Progress Wednesday.

I made 135 blocks for this quilt. 7 3/4 by 7 3/4 (well supposed to be) you know how that goes. I'm sure some are not correct.

I just had to lay them out to see what I could make of them.

Here are all the rows lined up ready to sew. I was really wanted to have a lot more done to show you but I do have other things I "have" to do.

I hope you all have great sewing adventures this week. Until next time.

Verse for Sunday

Well today I don't have a verse for you but I do have a song I would like for you to listen to. You see friends from the time I started my blog up again I told myself I would be honest on here. I feel that this will help me as well as maybe someone else reading.

To be honest I have really been struggling lately. Some days to even be productive with anything at all. I was in my sewing room Friday afternoon and as always I had a CD playing and the last song came on and I just broke down because the words were just what I have been thinking lately.

Please, Please listen to the words.....

I choose the one with the words because I want you to not only hear him sing them but read them for yourself.

HIS word is true and I know that what I am going through will pass. I know in my heart that He knows right where I am and how I feel I will walk through this holding His hand.

Thanks for listening. Have a great week.

Hugs and best stitches to you all,

King Size Dream

Today I am still working on my King Size Summer In the Park Quilt.

I'm linking up with Lee over at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday.

Well here are a few pictures.

This is the fabric I picked out. Gypsy Girl by Moda. As you know I love Turquoise sooooo.

Jelly Roll so no cutting. Well....almost I couldn't find one that I liked for the solid color so I bought yardage and cut it myself.

Goes together really quickly. Straight line sewing.

And here are the tubes.....well some of them. I am making a king size and the pattern is for a large lap size.

My babies hate it when I sew they don't get as much attention.

Well almost all of them hate it some just don't like to be disturbed.

On the 39 .......um 40 squares front. I haven't done very much. Finished the C which stands for Chitty and cat. Also decided to fill in the sea shell but not finished with that either. See the whole story Here and Here

Hugs and best stitches to you all,

Not A Fan.......Of Purple

Hello there...

THE SUN IS SHINING!

Oh sorry I didn't mean to shout, it's just well to be in the "Sunshine State" and not see the sun in a long while is torch-er. We have had rain for a solid month. That wouldn't be bad in a lot of ways we need the water table to come up a lot! But I heard it said that over the last month and a half we have had 30+ inches of rain! No that in not a type-o Thirty plus inches!

Now I have lived in Florida all of my life. I own 2 umbrellas and that is it! Oh sure I have some rubber boots. But their black the kind you wear to the garden. You don't wear them to the store or in public for that matter. I have seriously been considering buying a raincoat. My husband said oh please do....you might say oh how sweet. But I know how he thinks he said make sure it is mossy oak ok. Um....no hun this one will be for me to wear in PUBLIC.

So maybe one like this

Would be nice if it made me skinny like her too!! Yeah
And maybe even some boots to go with

But you know what will happen. As soon as I order them and have them shipped to my house the rain will stop! My luck! Ok so on to the Quilting!

I know I have kept you all my faithful followers waiting but life, as always gets in the way sometimes. So be prepared there will be lots and lots of pictures.

So here we go......not to long ago I was showing you a quilt top I made as a Guardian Ad Litem project. (the story is Here) While finishing that quilt the quilt I had been making for my father in law came back from being quilted (that story Here) and I had to put the binding on it. After I did that I had to take a break from quilting to get my emotions in check again. Even sitting at my machine today I had to stop and wipe away the tears. Anyway moving on I did finish the Guardian Ad Litem Quilt.

It is for a special little girl. She is special to me because right now she is apart of our family. I may have told you this before but for those who don't know my husbands sister and her husband are blessed to have a sibling group in their care right now. So I decided I would make them all quilts.

For Tabitha:

I even made a pillow case to store it in.

I have started making pillow cases to go with the quilts that I make. A lot of people don't know that you are supposed to store your quilts in pillow cases when not in use. (don't ask me where that unwritten rule came from)

I finally got outside to take some pictures today! That is why I am shouting so about the sun being out.

I really don't like purple.

But I do like this purple ric rac!!

Yep I love the ric rac.

Even my cat loved being outside today.

I was told Tabitha's favorite color was pink. After I had already bought all the fabric for this quilt. But there is a lot of pink in this quilt too.

Now on to what I am currently working on. I am going to making a quilt for my bed. Now you might say well go for it. Well......my bed is a King size ugh...

But I have been inspired by Daisy over Lazy Daisy Quilts to make it and quilt it myself! :) She talks about this in her podcast here. So I will show you before and then in a post later um.....much later I am sure the after.....

Before
Please excuse my cat. I can never find a time when she is not on my bed.
My son calls her the hood ornament for my bed.
I know you are saying right now "Wait you have a quilt on your bed" you are correct. My mom made this quilt for Darren and I when we got married. But if you look closely you can see it has 4 borders on it. As you know that can mean one of two things. A.) You ran out of fabric or B.) The size of the bed you were making it for changed. Our case happens to be B. When Darren and I got married we (he- it was his bed) had a full size bed. Six months after we got married we bought a queen. I think my mom got discouraged by this and just put the quilt away and stopped the work on it. Five years later we moved and we got a king size bed. After that there is no where to go so she finished the hand quilting Yes I said Hand Quilting! The blocks are machine pieced but the quilt is hand quilted. We have had it on our bed sense 2005. I have patched it twice and put the binding back on it twice. I would like to keep it as a keepsake so I need to make another quilt.

I also have an idea about what to hang behind our bed. Quilt related of course.

This is the fabric I will be using for my quilt. Gypsy Girl by Moda.

In Progress already.

I am using the Summer in the Park pattern from The Missouri Star Quilt Company.

I almost got all my strip sets sewn together today. Fun, fun I can do a lot of straight line sewing on this quilt. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hugs and best stitches to you all,
